Country Walking Sticks

The walking sticks in this category are our favourites. The curly ram's horn handles take such a lot of patient work to make them. The raw horns are rough and dull in colour to start with but after hours and hours of compression and polishing, they are completely transformed. They look so beautiful and the deer antlers lend themselves so perfectly to a variety of different walking stick handles.

The red stag antlers used to make all of our sticks have been naturally shed by the animals and then collected by licensed collectors.

The reg stags grow and shed a whole pair of antlers each year, growing bigger and bigger each year.

Only the smaller antlers between 40 and 70cm are any good for stick making, after this they become too large and heavy. Knobsticks are popular among country walkers and also walking stick users who find it more comfortable to hold a ball shape handle instead of a grip handle.

We have chestnut, hazel, blackthorn, quickthorn, also known as hawthorn and applewood usually in stock in varios heights. If you want a certain height walking stick or any.

We have a good selection of Shepherd's crooks at very competitive prices, available in ash, hazel, chestnut and aluminium. A very popular stick in the Christmas season for Christmas presents and Nativities.

We also stock handmade shepherd's crooks, usually made with ram's horn or buffalo horn handles on locally coppiced, dried and straightened shanks. other special requirements, please give us a call or drop us an email and we will see if we can help you.

Traditional wooden hiking sticks, a great gift for the rambler and countryman. With a choice of chestnut, ash, hazel and blackthorn you are bound to find a stick you like. They are not just used for walking either! We have had lots of feedback about these sticks and what they are used for. Beaters for flushing out game at the head of the hunt, a stick to poke around for snakes in the long grass and the monopod to use on photography field trips.

If you wanted something a bit more special than take a look at the handmade section. There you will find rare twisty shanks, twisty handles, some unusual woods such as birch and dogwood and extras such as hidden compartments for a dog whistle or other unusual toppers.

Our wooden hiking poles are too long to be sent by Royal Mail, so our parcel will be sent by courier instead. Please give any extra information, such as a gate code, and your mobile phone number so that the courier can send you an sms message with a two hour delivery window so that you can plan your day.
